Crown & Bridge

Back to Dental Clinic Overview

A crown is a “cap” or a cover that goes over your tooth.  A crown is made of metal, porcelain, or similar materials, and it is cemented to your natural tooth.  Here are some common reasons why you might need a crown:

  • Repair a fractured tooth
  • Protect a weak tooth against fracturing
  • Treat a cavity that’s too large for a filling
  • Cover a discolored or irregularly shaped tooth
  • Cover a tooth after root canal treatment

A bridge is a way to replace missing teeth.  A bridge is an artificial tooth (or teeth) that connects to natural teeth to hold it in place.  If you’re interested in replacing missing teeth, talk to your dentist about what options are best for you.
