Salina Family Healthcare Center is excited to announce the recipient of our 2024 scholarship! This scholarship grants approximately $500 to a student who is planning to enter the practice of medicine, dentistry, behavioral health, pharmacy, optometry, healthcare ancillary services, or healthcare administration in the State of Kansas. There were many qualified applicants for the scholarship committee to choose from but one application stood out as the clear winner: Kevin Jones, a current senior at Central High School.
Kevin plans to attend the University of Kansas and will major in Biology, with long-term plans to pursue medical school. Kevin says, “Earlier this summer, I went to a medical camp in Los Angeles, where I visited Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and I fell in love. The robotic surgery bots, patient mannequins, and futuristic medical tools solidified my desire to pursue a career in the medical field. I yearn to stay on this career path and to get a job as a doctor”.
The scholarship fund was established in 2023 to honor those who have served on the Salina Health Education Foundation (SHEF) Board of Directors or Finance Committee and provide healthcare scholarships to future healthcare professionals. The next scholarship application cycle will open in Fall 2024.
