Robert Kraft, MD

Dr. Robert Kraft, CEO/CMO, is originally from Concordia, KS. Early on he decided to go into the medical field because of its unique combination of science and caring. Dr. Kraft received his Bachelor of Science in Genetics from The University of Kansas and subsequently completed his medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine- Kansas City. During medical school, Dr. Kraft was inducted into the very prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He then went on to complete his residency at Smoky Hill FMRP.

Dr. Robert Kraft joined Smoky Hill FMRP as an Associate Director in 2004. In 2010, Dr. Kraft received the Kansas Academy of Family Physician Exemplary Teaching Award in the full-time faculty category. This award recognizes family medicine faculty members in Kansas who have demonstrated exemplary teaching skills or have developed and implemented innovative new teaching models or programs. In 2018, he expanded his role to include Chief Medical Officer of SFHC. In November 2019, he became CEO. Some of Dr. Kraft's medical interests include ambulatory practice improvement and chronic disease management. His favorite thing about being a doctor is creating long-term relationships with patients. Key components of Dr. Kraft's practice are listening and partnering.

In his spare time, he enjoys being with his family. He is happily married to Carmen San Martin and they are the proud parents of two. Dr. Kraft also enjoys traveling, reading 'anything that's written well,' cheering on Liverpool F.C., and watching his beloved KU Jayhawks, especially in Allen Fieldhouse. He even once used his spare time to run a marathon - sub-four hours!
