Dr. Leah Peterson is native to Salina, and joined Smoky Hill (and Salina Family) as a Faculty Physician in 2015. Prior to becoming a faculty physician, Dr. Peterson received both her Bachelor of Science in Cell Biology and her medical degree from the University of Kansas. Dr. Peterson is a member of the AAFP, KAFP, KPPEPR, and the Saline County Medical Society. Her special interests include women’s and children’s health, as well as inpatient and evidence-based medicine.
Leah is married to Jake Peterson, an attorney (and former Swedish Folk Dancer), who wears a lot of green ties. They have two adorable children, one dog, and two thriving beehives. In her spare time, Dr. Peterson enjoys running, cooking, gardening, beekeeping, reading, spending time with family, and crafty pursuits.
