Derek Pihl, PharmD, Executive Director of Pharmacy Services, joined the team in 2014, just a few months after our Pharmacy opened. We are proud to have him representing SFHC on the 340B Apexus FQHC Council and advocating for health centers on a national level. As a child, growing up in Lindsborg, Derek admired a family friend who was a Pharmacist. After a tragic plane accident that claimed the life of the family-friend, Derek decided to become a Pharmacist in his honor. Since achieving his degree at the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!) School of Pharmacy, Derek has especially enjoyed assisting patients with medication and wellness, including psychological health, learning about healthcare technology, and having a voice for the health center community. Derek takes pride in how he treats others - personally and professionally. He mentions that his positive interactions are part of his identity.

Derek's friends would tell you that he is a huge lover of all things Disney. He even proposed to his wife there! In his free time, Derek enjoys traveling, playing tennis, fishing, a good craft beer, and watching sports (especially the Chiefs).
