Cassandra Shields, PharmD, BCACP, CDCES

Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor
Cassandra Shields, PharmD, is a native of Lucas - the grassroots art capitol of Kansas. Growing up, Cassie enjoyed and valued seeing the trusted role pharmacists played in their communities and with their patients from assisting with cost-effective treatments to being accessible whenever there is a question/concern about medication. Her pharmacy journey started at the University of Missouri - Kansas City, School of Pharmacy, graduating in 2010. She joined the SFHC team in 2015 where she then became a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) in 2017. She is the recipient of the Above and Beyond award 2016-2017, and the 2017 KU Preceptor of the Year. Cassie's favorite thing about her job is getting to collaborate with providers and seeing patients meet their healthcare goals. Her clinical interests include: diabetes education, insulin pumps, and CGMs, nutrition, and heart failure treatment. Cassie's patients would tell you that she is always willing to meet them where they are at in life to accomplish goals for a healthier lifestyle.

Cassie is a self-described foodie, which makes sense, considering her family has owned a restaurant for over 60 years! People in her hometown always remember Cassie and her four sisters from their time waiting tables at the family business. When she's not working, she's probably working out, watching a 30 for 30 documentary - Slaying the Badger, Qualified, and Why I Hate Christian Laettner are her favorites-, watching KU basketball dominate, traveling with her family, or golfing with her husband.
