Dr. Ashley Francis considers both McPherson and Chapman, KS her hometown. She attended McPherson College for her undergraduate degree, which is also where she decided on a career as an Optometrist. While in McPherson, Dr. Francis worked at an optometry office. The Optometrist she worked with made the job so fun, that Dr. Francis decided optometry was the future for her. Once she graduated from McPherson, she attended Oklahoma College of Optometry (NSUOCO) in Tahlequah. From there, Dr. Francis completed her residency at Robert Dole VAMC.

Dr. Francis’ favorite thing about being an Optometrist is being able to help patients continue their work, hobbies, and independent life skills, such as reading and driving. She is also passionate about helping patients with ocular disease and low vision/ vision impairment. Dr. Francis would like patients to know that she “sees my job as an extension of the community that is my home. I love my community and enjoy being able to give back in some way.”

When she’s not taking a peek at your corneas, she’s probably hiking with her dogs or attending local festivals and events. Dr. Francis is also a self-proclaimed sci-fi nerd, the Star Trek/Star Wars kind, specifically.
