Maci Hicks, MD, is from Plymouth, Nebraska, a small town southwest of Lincoln. Growing up on a farm, Dr. Hicks realized early that access to quality healthcare was deeply needed in rural areas like hers. Since she was three years old, she’s been telling everyone that she wanted to be a doctor.
Dr. Hicks started making her dreams a reality at Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri. While in medical school at KU, Dr. Hicks was awarded several accolades including AOA Medical Honor Society, Gold Humanism Honor Society, KU-Salina Rural Medicine Award, and KU- Salina Family Medicine Award.
Now that she has achieved her MD, Dr. Hicks especially loves women and children’s health – including obstetrics and women’s health procedures. Her favorite thing about being a physician is “being able to care for people at all stages of life and being able to watch children that I have delivered grow!”
Dr. Hicks would want patients to know that she is “super passionate about serving rural Kansas and plans to practice in rural Kansas after residency.”
When she’s not seeing patients, Dr. Hicks enjoys spending time with family, helping out on the farm, and playing volleyball. Something you may not know about Dr. Hicks is that she ran Cross Country and Track in College. So, don’t plan to challenge her to a footrace!
