Dr. Caitlyn Nguyen grew up in southwest Kansas in Liberal. When starting college at the University of Kansas (KU), Dr. Nguyen had her heart set on a Computer Science major. However, after her first year of college, she found her love for medicine and realized computer science was not the right career choice for her.

Dr. Nguyen completed her undergraduate degree at KU and her MD at the KU School of Medicine. After graduating from medical school, she completed her residency at UKMC Truman Lakewood, but she is still a Jayhawk at heart.

She went into Family Medicine for its diverse patient population and disease management. “I believe in individualizing care based on each patient and that can be achieved through good communication and listening,” Dr. Nguyen says. “My goal is to empower patients to be their own health advocates.” Her favorite thing about being a doctor is constantly learning and sharing that knowledge.

In her free time, Dr. Nguyen loves spending time with her husband, baking, board games with friends, tennis, and spending time with her pets – five dogs and a potbelly pig named Emma. Her friends love her baking – especially the lemon blueberry sweet rolls and peach cobbler. Dr. Nguyen loves having friends to share calories with!
